Why Do We Use Retinol?

Retinol is one of the most popular ingredients in most anti-aging skincare products. But do you know exactly what it does or what it is? Most don’t. Let’s crush all the myths and questions with some facts about one of the most popular ingredients anti-aging skincare products has seen- Retinol.

What is Retinol?
Retinol is a form of vitamin A that naturally occurs in the skin. It is commonly used in over-the counter skin care products, normally in concentrations of around 0.05 to 1 percent. When retinol is applied to the skin, enzymes work to convert it into retinoic acid; which is clinically proven to improve lines, discoloration issues, and revitalize the skin.

Why we use Retinol?
Overall Retinol (and their derivatives) do some amazing things for your skin. They stimulate the production of new skin cells, they also help to fade dark spots resulting from photo-aging, hyperpigmentation, hormonal changes, blemish scars, fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration.

So when is the right age to start using Retinol? There is no age requirement for one to start using retinol products, so even if you’re in your early 20s, you can still give it a go. If you’re serious about anti-aging whether it’s preventative or restorative, you should have retinol in your routine. Continually using retinol can keep your skin looking brighter, younger and more alive!
